The Save the Children organization has been active in the field of asylum since 1995, running a series of projects that offer educational and social services addressing the specific needs of asylum seekers, beneficiaries of a form of protection, unaccompanied minors or resettled refugees. The Save the Children interventions focused on ensuring the respect of the rights of children in one of the above situations and the main activities were aimed at facilitating their stay on the territory of Romania, in the Romanian society and to improve living conditions for children and families. More than 5000 children and their families have benefited from daily activities, financial assistance, social and psychological counseling, and material and educational support. In 2016, Save the Children assisted 388 asylum seekers and beneficiaries of a form of protection, responding promptly to the needs of vulnerable cases.

In these centers, Save the Children has previously set up and arranged friendly spaces dedicated to activities with children and generically called “Children’s Rooms”, and in the following period they propose the establishment of the Mother and Child spaces for optimal care of newborns and small infants.
