Connecting Family Learning and Active Citizenship

This report is based on the linking of family learning and active citizenship, which formed the basis of an EU project called FACE IT!. The findings of this project and the approaches used in the project are analysed during the report. The report provides an overview of the central aims and intentions of the family learning approach and the benefits for same. The report also identifies the “secondary” successes of the family learning approach, including widening participation, counteracting the disadvantages of educational underachievement, etc.
The report then identifies some background information to the FACE IT! project. The report breaks down the aims and objectives of the project, the stages involved, how specific decisions for the project were arrived at, etc. The report then outlines the training programme and approaches used in the project.
The report outlines some of the Clare Family Learning Project approaches in curriculum development for the training course in the project on family learning and some of the adult learning methodologies utilised. The report concludes by outlining a number of conclusions and recommendations from the project and the resources developed from this.
