This paper was developed by the Department of Education and Skills on DEIS (Delivering Equality of Opportunity in Schools) Family Literacy Guidelines for providers of education.
The paper notes that feedback has concluded that there is a need to provide clearer guidelines for practitioners in receipt of funding from the DES under the DEIS Family Literacy fund and that there is a need for more comprehensive national framework for family literacy and family learning programmes.
The paper provides a breakdown of typical wider family learning programmes and a number of key recommendations based on these. The paper identifies a number of good practices in programme planning RE: family learning, including Building partnerships, needs analysis, Setting programme aims and objectives, etc. The paper also suggests a number of further reading resources.
