Family, Education and Inmigrantion. A peddagogical intervention program

This publication is a doctoral thesis, wich author is the university teacher and researcher Diana Preigue Caamaño, develop in 2008 at the Faculty of Education of the University of Galicia. The study use qualitative techniques like cuestionaries aimed at abroad population living in Galicia, and presents their perception of Spanish Education System and its contrasts with the education system existing in their home countries. But, related to the main subject of the data base currently setting, what is relevant about this publication, is that it includes an assessment of a “Socio-educational program with inmigrants families” applied at five Primary and Secondary Schools in Galicia. Concretely, chapter 8 (p.429-450) includes: the learning units and its training sessions structure. This educative intervention develops through three main areas of contents: education (Sapanisf education System behaviour), social (Social Services and acces to relevant information) and culture (multicultural dimension and galician culture aspects). The total durationIt of this educative intervention is 16 hours, distributed in three sessions (the firts one of 8 hours and 4 hours each of the two other sessions). The education intervention was develop in a total of five Primary and Secondary Education schools, all from Galicia. Chapter 9 describes the assessment of the results of this educative action applied in five schools with inmigrants families, the outcomes analyzed are presented distinguishing between families from latin or african culture background and the study shows aspescts as levels of knowlodge adquisition, etc.
