Fides Center – Romanian Language for Foreingers
The Center for Foreign Language Fides is the first private school dedicated to learning foreing languages in Romania. It was created after 1989 and offers different languages courses, including learning Romanian for foreingers. Being a private school, the participants have to pay a fee. The Romanian language courses for foreigners are aimed primarily at business people, diplomats, foreign citizens working or studying in Romania. The courses are organized by a specific schedule with ways of teaching according to the needs of the students. For a non-Romanian language speaker, 5 modules (32 hours) are recommended to make good use of the language in current concrete situations. The curriculum follows the standard curriculum built by the teacher along with the learner, according to their needs. However, any curriculum includes compulsory basic grammar notions, the basic lexicon, and specific language-specific structures for interaction in concrete situations. Each curriculum attains the five fundamental abilities (spoken language, oral expression, writing, writing a written text, interaction in conversation) but emphasizing the skills required for the student’s purpose. Teaching Romanian language courses is done either using a vehicle language (English, French, German, etc.) or directly in Romanian (unrecommended variant for absolute beginners). In both cases different methodologies and paths are used.
