The Help my kid learn project was developed by NALA as part of the National Strategy to Improve Literacy and Numeracy among Children and Young People 2011-2020 (Department of Education and Skills).
It is the primary family learning resource for parents developed by NALA and is aimed at highlighting the way people of all ages learn as part of their everyday lives and especially the positive things that children learn at home from their families. The website is simple and basic to use and brings together relevant information for parents and the wider community to support children’s literacy and numeracy development. In particular, the website provides activities that parents can do with their children to help develop their numeracy and literacy. Information includes general information on family learning and it’s benefits, activities, useful tips, etc. The website/ project is particularly useful and practical in that the resources which it provides are divided into a number of different age groups, including: 0-2, 3-4, 5-7, 8-9 and 10-12. There are a great deal of activities, resources and ideas under each section which I feel could potentially be extremely useful to the MiFamily project.
