Local Contract of Accompaniment to Schooling

The Local Contract of Accompaniment to Schooling (CLAS) was created in 1996 and was incorporated in the law by circular No. 2000-341 of 22 June 2000 and reinforced by the circular No. 2002-159 of 21 March 2002. Its main principles were set by the National Charter of Accompaniment to Schooling of 2001. The Local Contract of Accompaniment to Schooling is a partnership arrangement referring to all actions intended to, outside school hours, offer children support and complementary resources they need to flourish and succeed in school that they do not always benefit from in their home and social environment. Actions developed within the framework of the accompaniment to the schooling are intended for school children from elementary school until high school. It applies throughout the country at the local level of the department, but primarily in sensitive urban areas. The tutor encourages the desire to learn and the pleasure of discovering by broadening minds and is particularly focused on strengthening the confidence and self-esteem of children and young people in their capacity for personal and academic success.
