This Program is the result of the investigation “Design and evaluation of a Program aimed to improve the school performance of immigrant students” carried out by the Research Group Esculca from de University of Santiago de Compostela (Galicia). This research is supported by the Regional Governments Economy and Industry Department through its R&D Public Programs to stimulate applied investigation activities (Programas Sectoriales de Investigación Aplicada PEME I+D y I+D SUMA).
ECO-FA-SE Program main objective is to improve Secondary Education immigrant students’ learning achievement, through boosting collaboration between their families and school. The Program covers three targeted areas for action: school-class, school-families and school-students. Through ECO-FA-SE Program were implemented three types of actions: a Cooperative Learning Program (aimed at teachers), a Family Education Program (aimed at immigrant students and their families) and a Learning-Service Program (aimed at teachers). Concretely, the Family Education Program includes: one education program aimed at the families of teenagers’ immigrant students; and a study habits and techniques program aimed at students. The training programs aimed at immigrant students and their families are implement through five training sessions of two hours of duration each one (courses length a total of 10h).
